As you launch your career in biotech, we’re here to support you with guidance, tools, and resources. Since interviewing with Vertex will be the first step, check out the tips and tricks below to set yourself up for a successful conversation.

1. Be on time: Whether you’re interviewing in-person or virtually, plan to arrive at least ten minutes early. Being early helps you get comfortable in the interviewing environment and reduce any stress being late can bring.

2. Dress professionally: When in doubt, dress conservatively in a business professional manner. For example, this could be a matching jacket and pants, a dress shirt, etc.

3. Bring specific questions: Bring 3-5 questions to ask your interviewer about what its like to work at Vertex. You interviewer will expect you to ask some questions and share your perspective about why you want to work here.

4. Answer questions directly: It’s perfectly fine to take time to think about your responses. Answer each question clearly and try to maintain eye contact during the interviewer's question and when answering.

5. Share your gratitude: Send a thank-you note! This simple action makes a great impression and can be done via email or a mailed note. If there's something about the interview that was helpful to you, let your interviewer know. If you connected with your interviewer over common experience, mention it.
