Kidney diseases (AMKD, ADPKD, IgAN)

Every day, people living with serious diseases strive to be more than their disease — to be defined by what they can dream and hope and achieve, not by what limits them.
We are committed to investigating and advancing potential therapies to treat patients across our growing kidney pipeline, including people living with APOL1-mediated kidney disease (AMKD), autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and IgA nephropathy (IgAN).
Beyond our commitment to research, we seek to identify opportunities where we can support, empower, learn from and engage with the kidney community, and ensure their voices are represented and incorporated into all that we do.
Working with the kidney community
We are proud to work with organizations that help people with serious kidney diseases live active, full lives.
Throughout the year, we recognize various disease awareness occasions to support those affected by kidney disease, such as U.S. National Kidney Month and World Kidney Day in March. In April, we proudly partner with the American Kidney Fund (AKF) to recognize U.S. AMKD Awareness Day (recognized annually on the last Tuesday in April) to bring greater awareness to this serious disease and offer resources to those who may be at risk.

Team Vertex supports the kidney community at the annual NKF Boston & New England Kidney Walk.
Supporting the kidney community
We are proud to work with and support many organizations in the kidney community, including:
- The American Kidney Fund (AKF)
- American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP)
- National Kidney Foundation (NKF)
- NephCure Kidney
- IgA Nephropathy Foundation
- PKD Foundation
We've had the privilege to support kidney disease education, advocacy and policy efforts across each of the organizations listed above. Additionally, we are a proud member of the Coalition for Kidney Health, a multi-stakeholder group working to transform kidney diseases by generating awareness, increasing screening and promoting high-quality, coordinated care.
